Pranayama - Part 1

4 class series - 45 min class

Build the foundation of Pranayama - Ujjayi breathing

Supine / Reclining Pranayama -​​​

The series will be focused on Ujjayi breath also known as the 'breath of victory'. Ujjayi breath is the foundation of many other pranayama.

​

Part 1 highlights -

  • Observe the breath and sound

  • Learn active and passive breathing

  • Create Ujjayi sound while breathing

​

If you are a beginner or want to learn the correct method of breathing in Pranayama, this series is for you. It will help you understand and practice the breath work that is not only essential but an integral part of many other pranayama focused on chest breathing which will be taught in part 2 of the series.

​

Props needed: Bolster or a firm pillow, 2 blankets and a mat

​

When: Wednesdays - February 4, 11, 18, 25

Time: 9:15 - 10:00am

​

Recording will be shared after each class and full series will be available until March 4 so one can practice the guided pranayama several times during the week.

​

Cost - $90 + tax

Pranayama - Part 2

4 class series - 60 min class

​

Learn various other pranayama, mudras and bandhas​

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Seated Pranayama - Nadi Shodhana

 

After you have learned and practiced Ujjayi breathing, you are ready to practice other types of seated pranayama. In this series, you will learn a few mudras, bandhas that will be used in the practice. It has a calming effect on the brain, the nadis(energy channels) and the nervous system.

​

Part 2 highlights -

  • Transition to seated ujjayi breathing

  • Understand anatomy, movement of lungs and ribs in pranayama

  • Chest breathing pattern - reclining and seated

  • Anulom vilom / Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing)

  • Bandhas - Jalandhar Bandha and mula bandha

  • Mudras - Hand mudra in anulom vilom, Shanmukhi mudra

  • Sitali and Bhramari

​

Props needed: Bolster or a firm pillow, 2 blankets and a mat

​

When: Wednesdays - March 11, 18, 25, April 1

Time: 9:00-10:00am

​

Recording will be shared after each class and full series will be available until April 8 so one can practice the guided pranayama several times during the week.

​
