Yoga to me
January 17, 2018
I grew up in India and have experienced people living yoga. Yes, yoga is more than asana/poses or meditation.
In India, as a child I could feel something different when I visited some homes. There was a calm feeling in the home, a feeling of contentment, there was Peace that one could easily feel. At first it was difficult to understand why - was their home bigger, were they rich people, were they from a different city/state? I kept observing each time I visited these homes and friends. As I grew up I realized that it had to do something with the way they "lived"!

It is about having patience, it's about healthy living, healthy eating, respect for self and others, the choices you make in day-to-day living that brings you close to your true self. It is about being yourself. That is Yoga! Yoga is vast and deep! It is a way of living!

Asana on the mat is a part to keep the body healthy. Meditation is to calm the mind and to connect with the heart. Have good nutrition, rest when needed, have faith and love, develop humility, practice cleanliness, practice contentment, practice devotion - all of it is Yoga!

It is everywhere at some level or the other, it is in each one of us.

It is in our thoughts, it is in our actions, it is 'on' the mat, it is 'off' the mat!
